Town Hall #4: Strategic Plan Launch and Celebration!
Just this past weekend, we revealed our Strategic Plan! It’s been 11 months in the making and we’re so excited to move our values into action. We also have more exciting updates to share, including events, board elections, and important community news 🎉
Thanks for joining Town Hall #4: Strategic Plan Launch and Celebration!
35+ people attended to learn about our vision, mission, values, and goals! Thanks to everyone who came and shared feedback on action items to prioritize. We also celebrated with refreshments and mahjong, teaching folks how to play!
For those who weren’t able to attend, you can view the slides here. Our full strategic plan will be complete in early November.

OTHER COMMUNITY NEWS AND EVENTS
Buena Vista Lofts Community Meeting 9/24, 6-8pm
The Buena Vista Project (formerly known as Elysian Park Lofts) is a large development proposed along the edge of LA State Historic Park, between the Metro A Line tracks and Broadway. The proposal includes over a million square feet of development including housing and retail in three towers – 26, 22, and 15 stories – in addition to 6-story buildings extending along the base of the towers. The Historic Cultural North Neighborhood Council's website has links to more info at hcnnc.org.
The project is currently in the Draft EIR phase with public comments due on September 25, 2025. The Draft EIR phase is an important phase of the project, during which you can learn about and comment on the adequacy (or inadequacy) of the studies and mitigation measures for the environmental impacts of the project.
The second Community Meeting will be Wednesday, September 24 at 6-8pm at St. Anthony Croatian Croatian Catholic Church (712 N Grand Ave, Los Angeles, 90012).
LACGH Community Meeting 9/27, 11:00 AM (Virtual)
Centennial Partners, in partnership with the County of Los Angeles, The Wellness Center, and the Health Innovation Community Partnership (HICP), is working on the revitalization of the iconic LA County General Hospital building and other spaces on the west end of the campus. Join the next phase of planning and design (the Master Plan) and share your input on the community’s needs and priorities. Find translated posters here.
Save the LA Chinatown Postal Unit!
The LA Chinatown Contract Postal Unit is closing permanently on September 30th, 2025, following the termination of its contract by USPS. This post office has been serving Chinatown since 1999. This small but vital outpost is an irreplaceable lifeline for our community, particularly for our senior residents and limited English proficient neighbors. The closure of this unit would impose a disproportionate hardship on elderly and immigrant residents who depend on trusted, linguistically and physically accessible postal services.
We’ve already lost essential services in Chinatown such as our hospital and full-service grocery store. Please help in saving the LA Chinatown Post Office! Sign Chinatown Service Center’s letter of support to Rep. Jimmy Gomez at https://tinyurl.com/5k7tanea 📝
Support Yue Wa Market! Closing 9/21-28
After 18 years of serving the Chinatown community, Yue Wa Market is closing due to various factors including pressure from gentrification. September 21-28 will be the last week of service. Come out and fill your home/pantry with goods from Yue Wa Market and show support to a beloved community cornerstone! Support remotely by donating at http://gofund.me/1e976630 or Venmo: derekluu
