What does it mean to be a member?

As a member, you are afforded various benefits including contributing to the development of an organization dedicated to the housing justice movement in Chinatown, and more broadly in LA. Right now, this gives you opportunities such as:

  • Participating in working groups

  • Voting for board members

  • Building relationships with fellow members

  • Shaping and updating our bylaws that govern our work.

Importantly, it gives you the opportunity to support the self-determination of residents and tenants, and maybe even yourself (if you are a resident in Chinatown), as we grow and eventually acquire and potentially develop permanently affordable housing.

As a membership-based organization with a full volunteer board, we also depend on our members to help volunteer and support our work. We have 3 active work groups - 1) Strategic Planning, 2) Community Outreach, and 3) Finance/Fundraising.

Some current ways to volunteer include

  • Supporting community outreach efforts - we’ll need support with administering community surveys and doing outreach for upcoming community events

  • Supporting fundraising efforts to continue to raise money for general administrative needs and long-term needs like staffing and property acquisition

If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions about volunteering, you can fill out this form or email us at lachinatownclt@gmail.com.
