LATEST NEWS
Yale Block Party for Housing Justice
Last month, Chinatown Community for Equitable Development (CCED) hosted a celebratory block party for the residents of 729 Yale and Yale Terrace. Community members gathered to celebrate 729 Yale's recent eviction wins (the Ellis Act evictions were dropped!) as well as uplift the organizing efforts at Yale Terrace against unjust rent increases. Residents from both buildings inspired the community with their powerful stories of resistance and collective action to remain in their homes. While 729 Yale residents are no longer facing evictions, LA Chinatown CLT continues fundraising for the building's acquisition with the support of the tenants to ensure their housing to truly secure for the long term.

Collective Visioning for the LA Chinatown CLT
LA Chinatown CLT recently kicked off the Visioning Phase of the strategic planning process and wrapped up two engaing half-day retreats with boardmembers and CLT members. Through participatory activities, we held thoughtful conversations about our mission, vision, values, and priorities. Together, we explored and shared ideas of how we define community, land, and trust, and how we center housing in our future work.
